Expedite Metro extension: Noida CEO

Sanjiv Saran, Noida Chief Executive Officer, held a meeting with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officers and officers involved in metro rail extension projects on Tuesday. He has reportedly instructed them to speed up the metro projects.

The CEO has informed the officers that on every Tuesday review meetings would be held and progress in metro extension projects reviewed.

Any bottleneck would be cleared by coordination of all the departments concerned, he said adding that the electricity and telephone department officers, too, have been directed to attend the weekly review meetings.

Power or telephone lines need to be shifted at certain places as per DMRC Detailed Project Report alignments.

The CEO directed the Chief Architect Planner and building Cell Architect visit Sector 62 site along with DMRC and representatives from the engineering consultancy firm, RITES, and identify the stabling yard, casting yard and other facility area sites for metro extension from Sector 32 till Sector 62 near NH 24. The CEO further discussed with DMRC officials about feeder bus services.

DMRC officials have been asked to submit the route plans and start the feeder bus services as soon as possible. Though the funding for the feeder bus service remains to be sorted out, Noida CEO wants the feeder services to be operational in a month.

Other Metro extension project is from Botanical Garden to Kalindi Kunj and DMRC officers have began planning for this route.

DMRC PLANS CHILDREN'S HOME FOR 50 GIRLS

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has planned a children's home for 50 girls as part of its corporate social responsibility. This information was shared in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday by Minister of State in the Urban Development ministry Saugata Roy in response to an unstarred question.

'DMRC has planned a second children's home for 50 girls as a part of its ongoing corporate responsibility,' Roy said. Roy also said DMRC had informed that a children's home in Delhi named Arman has been constructed by them as part of their corporate social responsibility. The home is run by a non-governmental organisation (NGO) Salam Balak Trust, Roy said. 'While the initial cost of furniture, utensils etc. was borne by the DMRC, the day to day expenditure is made by the NGO,' he added.
