Existing institutions have to be revitalised: PM Modi

Existing institutions have to be revitalised from time to time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday and hailed President Pranab Mukherjee’s contribution in this regard as an inspiration for all Indians.

Modi, while attending the inauguration of the Ceremonial Hall at the President’s Estate here, said the Rashtrapati Bhavan has become a symbol of India’s pride across the world.

He referred to the inauguration of the Rashtrapati Bhavan museum a few months earlier and now the Ceremonial Hall and said Mukherjee has made a “unique contribution” in re-energizing the Rashtrapati Bhavan complex. “Existing institutions have to be revitalized from time to time,” he said, according to a PMO statement.

In this context, he said Mukherjee’s contribution is an inspiration for all countrymen in the quest for building a modern India.

The Prime Minister also expressed happiness that yesterday, which happened to be Mukherjee’s birthday, the United Nations had accepted India’s proposal on International Yoga Day.

Modi also launched “Born Again on the Mountain”, a book by Arunima Sinha, the first female amputee and first Indian amputee to climb Mount Everest.
