Ex-BJP RS member asked to vacate govt quarter in C’garh

Nand Kumar Sai, the man who fought the then Congress Chief Minister Ajit Jogi in poll battle and on street to strengthen the BJP, has been asked by his own party government in Chhattisgarh to vacate the government accommodation at Raipur.

Nand Kumar Sai is the former BJP state president of undivided Madhya Pradesh and was the first Leader of Opposition in Chhattisgarh Assembly, who in 2003 election contested against then sitting CM Jogi and subsequently went to High Court and filed an election petition against the Congress leader on his caste and other issues.

In a latest move, Additional Chhattisgarh Home Secretary Tanuja Salam has served notice to Sai asking him to vacate the B-type quarters since "he is no longer a Rajya Sabha MP and also there is a shortage of government quarters at the capital city".

Interestingly copy of the notice has also been marked to General Administration Department of Chhattisgarh Government Superintending Engineer State Electricity Company and Executive Engineer PWD Department.

Sai expressed his ignorance about the reason of being issued notice to vacate his Raipur quarter saying "the people, who have served the notice are in a better position to tell why it was issued."

Sai, who has never taken salt in food for the last 40 years, wanted to become CM when BJP came to power in 2003. However, looking into his desire to lead the state, BJP leadership had decided to take him to Delhi by first making him Lok Sabha member and then Rajya Sabha member to allow state BJP government to function smoothly.

However, a couple of months back, when he retired from Rajya Sabha, instead of re-nominating him, the party picked up Ram Vichar Netam and then the tribal leader Sai was also dropped from the Core Committee of the state party unit.
