Espionage case: J&K cops intensify probe as few more officials’ names crop up

Along with Delhi Police, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have also tightened their belts in connection to the espionage racket supported by Pakistan’s ISI. Raids are being conducted in almost all districts of Jammu and some names of officials of the Indian Army and BSF have also cropped up.

While scrutinising the mobile details of Kafaitullah Khan, arrested by Delhi Police, it came to light that two Jammu and Kashmir-based Army jawans were frequently communicating with him. Their role is under scanner. Meanwhile, a Delhi Police team has gone to Rajauri district in Jammu after they got some lead in the case.

According to a highly placed source, the top honchos of Indian Army based in Jammu have been contacted by both Delhi Police and Jammu and Kashmir Police seeking official permission to take out the call details of hundreds of Army men. Delhi Police have also contacted the BSF headquarters regarding the same.

“Few names of BSF officials have also cropped up who were in constant touch with Abdul Rasheed, a BSF head constable, who was spying for Pakistan. Rasheed told police that he was using two more SIM cards to make internal communication with the Pakistani agents,” the source added.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have freezed the bank accounts of both Rasheed and Khan. Also, the J&K police are intensively interrogating the family, friends and other peer groups of the duo.

Few officials in the armed forced, whose names have not been disclosed, helped Rasheed to take the smart phone inside the air base and other Army camps where the usage of smart phones is strictly prohibited.
