Errant bikers attack cop

A traffic constable was attacked by bikers in south Delhi’s Saket area, when he seized the vehicle for lack of proper documents. The bikers fled the scene with the seized vehicle after the attack.

According to the police, traffic constable Suresh Singh was checking vehicles along with Sub-Inspector Ram Kishan near Asian Market at MB Road in Pushp Vihar on Wednesday night.

On seeing a motorcyclist, aged between 25-30, they asked him to stop. When the motorist failed to show vehicle documents, Suresh issued a challan and seized the motorcycle.

The youth who was driving motorcycle handed over the keys to them and left the place. Kishan then asked Suresh to take the motorcycle to the Lado Sarai traffic police station.

But when Suresh reached near Saket metro station, the motorist came with one of his associates on another bike and allegedly attacked Suresh.

The attackers punched twice Suresh’s face and hit his head with a helmet, police said. After this, the man took his motorcycle and both fled the scene. An injured Suresh made a PCR call and reported the incident to the police. Suresh was taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences [AIIMS] for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, the police has registered a case of attack in Saket police station and has launched a haunt to nab the attackers.

‘The main accused has been identified as Lakshman, a resident of Madangir. We will arrest both the attackers very soon,’ said the senior police official.
