ER observes vigilance awareness week

In order to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Eastern Railways observed six-day Vigilance Awareness Week which started from October 26. The main theme of this year’s event was “Preventive Vigilance as a tool of Good Governance”. The event took place at four divisions including Sealdad, Howrah, Asansol and Malda and at three workshops including Liluah, Kanchrapara and Jamalpur.

General manager Eastern Railways RK Gupta paid floral tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the railway headquarters on Tuesday, Gupta urged the railway employees to bring transparency in all spheres of activities to eradicate corruption. He advised the railway employees to remain vigilant and work towards the growth and reputation of the organisation to provide value based service to the countrymen. He asked the employees to do their duties conscientiously and work “without fear and favour”.

Senior deputy general manager and chief vigilance officer of Eastern Railways UK Bal and other principal head of the departments were present on the occasion.
