Eon Electric starts making lithium ion batteries

Eon Electric Limited [formerly IndoAsian Fusegear Limited], one of India’s leading electric equipment manufacturers, has started production of lithium ion batteries at its state-of-the-art plant at SIDCUL, Haridwar. Currently, Eon batteries are being produced at the pilot plant and the company plans to upgrade the same to India’s first greenfield factory for lithium ion batteries within 2012-13. Eon Electric would invest Rs 50 crore in the first phase of setting up the plant spread over 10,000 sq. mtrs.

The plant would manufacture state-of-the-art Lithium Ion Batteries for use in mobile handsets, laptops, cameras, tablets, etc, and would have the first mover advantage in this segment in India.

The batteries would be most compact in size and more efficient in operation and capable of delivering high electric current for a better performance of devices without the necessity of regular recharge.

Eon Electric has been pioneers in electric equipment in India including MCBs and CFLs. Lithium ion batteries are the latest example of the company’s futuristic planning procedure and strong research and development department. These batteries will be supplied to end consumers through the company’s strong dealers and distribution network.

Eon Electric is also taking up a proposal with the Bureau of Indian Standards [India] to prepare new Indian Standard Specifications for Lithium Ion Batteries which will generally be in accordance with the IEC specifications and upgraded to ensure satisfactory performance and safety in usually high ambient temperatures and rough Indian conditions.  For the present, these batteries will all be certified as per IEC norms and other international standards so as to meet global specifications and requirements.
