Vishal Bhardwaj is one of the finest directors in Hindi cinema today, largely known for movies like ‘Omkara’, ‘Haider’, ‘Makdee’, ‘Maqbool’ and many others. His film ‘Kaminey’, which starred Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, was also widely appreciated. Shahid was seen in a double role in the film and it’s considered one of Shahid’s best amidst his elaborate body of work. But not all was well for the filmmaker while working on the film.

In an interview recently, Vishal confessed that he didn’t think that ‘Kaminey’ would do well.

In a chat with ‘Unfiltered by Samdish’, he said that he had his doubts about the film and wondered how it could do well. The reason was that there was a different level of chaos during the shooting of the film.

There was a huge conflict between the director of photography and the cast and the production and a different conflict between the production designer and the production. So, when Bhardwaj reached the set every day, there was a new problem arising every single day.

Despite the chaos, the film did well eventually. It got critical acclaim as well as commercial success. The songs of the movie, especially ‘Dhan Ta Nan’, did well.

After ‘Kaminey’, Shahid went on to do ‘Haider’ with Vishal. Kapoor revealed recently that he did the film for free. When Vishal came to him and offered him the script, he was clear that he wouldn’t be able to afford it. Yet, Shahid did it only for the script and because it was Vishal Bhardwaj.
