Karen Gillan's character was meant to die in 'Guardians...

Actor Karen Gillan says her character Nebula in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise was supposed to die at the end of the first movie.

The 29-year-old, who plays the blue-skinned alien assassin in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, is grateful that her character Nebula lived on as she's in the sequel, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
"It was a surprise for me because when I read the script for the first movie my character died in it. And then when we got close to shooting that, suddenly her ending was rewritten, and then it was rewritten again," Gillan told Radio Times magazine.

"So I just didn't know what was going on. And then she didn't die in the first movie and I was really excited about that," she added.

Gillan sees a lot of possibilities for Nebula in the Avengers franchise and the third instalment of "Guardians" movie. She hopes the character gets to fulfil her wish to murder her stepfather Thanos in one of the stories.

"I thought I would be coming back but then when I read the script for the second film I saw all the stuff that I got to do and all the emotional stuff and I was just really excited. I would like to see Nebula be embraced into the 'Guardians' family."
