It's my duty to keep the crown back: Anukreethy Vas

Miss India World 2018, Anukreethy Vas, feels that there is no pressure on her to win the Miss World crown, but she considers it as her duty to keep the crown back after Manushi Chillar.

"I am all set for the Miss World pageant to be held in December at Sanya, in China. Though I have no pressure on me, I won't mind having some as I work better under pressure," she told Millennium Post during an interview.

Reminiscing about her past before winning the Miss India crown, she said, "What you see now is the exact opposite of what I was. I was a tomboy who represented my school in the nationals as a long-distance runner."

Talking about life after winning the crown, the second year student of French literature stated, "It was my friend who was interested in participating in the contest and filled up my form too. I just accompanied her," she mentioned.

Elaborating her journey, she said "Before I could understand anything, Mumbai happened. It was my first time in Mumbai and I went over a drastic makeover in a month's time. Those 30 days in Mumbai were like a game-changer for me."

On being asked about her role model, she revealed, "My mom... She could have asked me to continue my studies, but she supported me in every step of mine and helped me achieve my dreams. I come from a village-based in Tamil Nadu and being a single parent is not an easy task."

"Other than her, I admire Priyanka Chopra as she has broken all the barriers to achieve what she wanted to," Anukreethy mentioned.

Talking about her Bollywood plans Vas said, "I can't predict the future. It's not necessary that I will follow the same path of entering Bollywood like many other beauty queens. There are many who have broken the jinx and worked in other fields. For example, Koyal Rana is doing well for herself and she hasn't followed the fixed path. Also, Manushi Chillar is busy with her 'Beauty with Purpose' endeavours."

"I would like to work for the rights of the transgender community," she signed off.
