Elderly woman allegedly bludgeoned to death

A 55-year-old woman was allegedly bludgeoned to death with a hammer by unidentified persons in her residence at West Delhi’s Madipur village on Saturday.

The police have questioned a number of suspects, including the victim’s neighbours and tenants in this regard during the past 24 hours, but the accused haven’t been arrested or even identified, yet.
However, the police said that from preliminary investigation, it doesn’t look like a case of robbery-cum-murder.

The victim, identified as Sanjogita Yadav, was a widow and stayed with her son Bhushan Yadav. On Saturday afternoon, Bhushan went to the court for some work, leaving his mother alone in the two-storeyed house. When Bhushan returned, he found the main door open. Soon, he discovered his mother’s body lying on the first floor in a pool of blood. He reported the matter to the police immediately and Sanjogita’s body was rushed to a hospital, where she was declared brought dead. The body was immediately sent for a post-mortem.

From preliminary investigation, it seems like Sanjogita was hit by a hammer, which was found near her body. But it is yet to be verified. A forensic team was also deployed in this case, and their report is awaited, said a police official.

Meanwhile, it also emerged that the Yadavs were reportedly involved in a property dispute with one
of their tenants, who is also being questioned in this regard.
