Eight youths pay for interfering in couple's fight

Police has claimed to have arrested eight persons after a fight broke out between a youth and his girlfriend, a foreigner, at a south Delhi pub in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Police said the incident was reported from Turquoise Cottage at Sri Aurobindo Marg in south Delhi, around 1 am. 'We received a call of brawl at the pub and rushed to the spot. We found a group of youths were fighting with the bouncers,' said a police officer.

During investigation, it was revealed that the couple was fighting, which ended up in the woman slapping her boyfriend. Seeing this, a group of youths intervened and started bashing the man as well. The group was celebrating the birthday of one Anit Bhalla, a resident of Munirka in south Delhi.

To stop the scuffle, bouncers intervened. Meanwhile, the coupled slipped out of the pub, leaving the others fighting.

Police has arrested seven youths, Sharan Veer Singh, Akhil, Varun, Dalbir, Banveer, Prateek and Anit Bhalla and a bouncer Mohit Singh, under Section 91/93/97 of Delhi Police Act. Medical reports confirmed that all of them were drunk. The girls, who were with the youths but not involved in the fight were let off.
