Education dept team inspects situation at Jaipuria College

A team from the higher education department on Saturday reached the clash-hit Jaipuria College to inspect the situation. It is to be remembered that the college administration had to stop the college activities on Wednesday due to the alleged student clash.

From Wednesday to Saturday, the college administration could not commence the classes and the matter was reported to the higher education department. The team has examined the position of the college and will take decision in the meeting to commence the study as soon as possible. However, the two groups of students started fighting in the college premises from Wednesday as the innocent students and professors were compelled to leave the college.

The BA Part-I examination is going on in the college. The college authority then took the decision to call off the collegiate activities. However, Tapan Mondal, a laboratory-staff of North Kolkata’s Jaipuria College, was injured on Friday noon, during a clash with a section of students in college campus, according to reports. The attacking students claimed that Mondal was helping few candidates in illegal admission, after taking money from them. When students went to protest against it, Mondal allegedly assaulted them and molested few girl-students as well.

Thereafter, Mondal was reportedly beaten up by the protesting students. He was rushed to a private hospital nearby in critical condition.
