EDMC to launch dog vaccination drive

East Delhi Municipal Corporation [EDMC] will launch a vaccination campaign for dogs on the pattern of polio vaccination campaign to free the area from threat of rabies. The corporation has asked the officials to make a policy on the matter.

'The sterilisation drive is time consuming and expensive. But vaccination of the dogs needs only a few minutes and is cost effective as well,' said Mahek Singh, chairman of the standing committee, EDMC, while passing a proposal of this effect. Presently, EDMC has two vehicles to catch the dogs. The sterilisation of dogs in east Delhi areas has been an issue as the NGOs that specialise in this fall in the jurisdiction of south Delhi.

'We will soon purchase new vehicles to catch the dogs in east Delhi,' said S S Yadav, commissioner of EDMC.
