ED questions Shuvaprasanna’s daughter

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday questioned painter Shuvaprasanna’s daughter Jonaki Bhattacharya for her alleged role in the multi-crore Saradha scam.

The ED officials have grilled Jonaki and asked the details of the financials transactions which were made between Jonaki and Saradha Chairman and Managing Director Sudipto Sen. Sen had allegedly sold a TV channel to Shuvaprasanna.

The central agency has also summoned the wife of businessman Ramesh Gandhi and asked her to furnish details of her financial transaction with Sen.

Gandhi was allegedly involved in the scam and had been arrested earlier in this connection.

The ED officials were probing whether a portion of Saradha cash that had allegedly reached painter Suvaprasanna’s bank accounts had been transferred to the accounts of his daughter Jonaki for buying three hotels in Mumbai. During investigation the ED officials came to know that the transactions relating to the purchase of the hotels were done through Jonaki’s accounts.

ED officials had sought documents from Suvaprasanna. The artist’s chartered accountant had submitted a few documents which the investigating officials found to be not enough to unearth the money trail.
