Eco Urban Village will be open to public from today

The West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO) will open the Eco Urban Village at Rajarhat New Town on Thursday.

Chairman of Hidco Debashis Sen, who will inaugurate the Eco Urban Village, said that the village had been set up near Pyachar Mor, which is just a kilometre away from Eco Park.

The main attraction of the village is a water body covering an area of 80 acres. Fishing and boating facilities have been given for the revelers.

There are also facilities for jogging and cycling. It may be mentioned that Hidco is planning to set up graded cycle track under the Smart City project.

Sen said that unlike Eco Park, raw nature had been preserved in the Eco Urban Village so that people could enjoy it. Hidco’s message is “live and stay healthy,” Sen said adding that it was because of this jogging and cycling facilities had been provided. People who are tired with city life can go to the village and spend a day amidst nature. Sen said as Eco Park had become the most important destination, it was quite likely that the village would soon come up as a favourite spot.

Hidco is going to inaugurate the New Town fair on Thursday. The fair will continue till January 3. In addition to food stalls, there will also be many other items including handicrafts. The Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture at Gol Park will be selling Ramakrishna, Vivekananda and Vedanta literature. Both Christmas and New Year will be celebrated at the fair. A floating restaurant has also been opened for the revelers.
