Eco Park to be constructed in Nayachar land

The State government will take back the land in Nayachar from Prasoon Mukherjee and will set up an Eco park there, Chief Minister  Mamata Banerjee  announced in the concluding programme of the  two day Bengal Global Business Summit at the Mila Mela fair-ground on Saturday afternoon.

She said a discussion with Mukherjee had taken place and the state government would allot alternate land to him in Baruipur in South 24 Parganas. The land is jointly owned by him and West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC). It may be recalled that Mamata Banerjee had taken a team of industrialists to Nayachar in December, 2015 and asked them to prepare projects to set up an Eco park in the area. The area is the Chief Minister’s favourite spot. Surrounded by water the island, situated close to Haldia will become a tourist spot. Mukherjee was former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya’s blue eyed boy. The then Chief Minister had inaugurated his Kolkata West International City (KWIC) in 2006.
