EC to examine Modi, Mamata speeches in recent rallies

The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has sent the video footages of the remarks which were made by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee while addressing their election rallies in Asansol after BJP and Trinamool Congress lodged complaint with the commission against each other.

PM Modi had launched an attack at Banerjee and her party from an election rally in Asansol on Thursday. Banerjee also responded to the allegations brought against her and Trinamool Congress by the Prime Minister from her election rally which was organised Asansol on Friday.

The two parties had lodged complaint against each other with the CEO office following which it had sent a video containing the speeches of both the leaders to the Commission's office in Delhi.

The ECI will examine through the video footages to see if there was any derogatory comments in the speeches of the two leaders.

On the other hand after not being satisfied with the explanation given by Rezzak Mollah contesting the election in Trinamool Congress ticket from Bhangar the Commission has decided to 'censure' him.

It may be mentioned that the Commission had show-caused Mollah for making derogatory comments from an election rally in Bhangar. But according to the Commission, Rezzak failed to provide satisfactory answers in his favour.

The Commission will closely monitor his election rallies and if he continues to make such comments the Commission may take action against him.
