EC completes delimitation of Indo-Bangla enclaves

The Election Commission (EC) has completed the delimitation of 51 enclaves that were transferred from Bangladesh to Cooch Behar. As a result of this more than 10,000 odd new Indian citizens will be able to vote in the forthcoming assembly polls. The voters were eagerly waiting for exercising their franchise for the time since the independence. The EC had earlier instructed the District Magistrate of Cooch Behar to complete the enrollment of voters within April 10-15. For the first time the enclaves had been included in the Indian territories.

As some works including the delimitation of the constituencies were pending the EC had decided to hold the election in the districts of Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and Alipurduar where the enclaves were situated.
