Eatery employee killed for failing to provide chapattis

In a bizarre incident, an employee of an eatery had to die for failing to give chapatti to a person who came to have dinner in a hotel at Hare Street. Police said the victim Lalan Singh was busy working in his hotel when the accused Md Zakir came to have food. Initially the accused had ordered four chapattis and vegetables.

After finishing the four chapattis the accused asked Singh to give him two more. But by that time there was no more chapattis left. The accused got infuriated when Singh told him that there was no more chapatti and asked if he needed some rice.

The accused thought that the victim was telling lies and kept some chapattis aside for dinner of the employees of the hotel. The altercation soon turned to a scuffle and the accused pushed Singh.

The victim fell into a huge vessel where another employee was preparing soup. Singh received severe burn injuries all over his body. He was admitted to Calcutta Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries this morning after suffering for the past three days.

Local people caught Zakir soon after the incident though he had attempted to flee and handed him over to the police. He was immediately arrested and he was booked on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
