Dy Director of labour dept caught taking bribe, arrested

Deputy director of the labour department in Gurgaon, Ajmer Singh, was arrested by the State Vigilance Bureau after he was allegedly caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the official of a construction company on Monday evening.

According to sources, the accused official had been meeting a South City-based builder from quite some time and he allegedly asked the builder to arrange a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh to get some work done. On Monday evening, Singh called up the concerned construction company and asked Rs 50,000 to be paid immediately. This information was intercepted by the concerned authorities. When the official of the construction company went to meet Singh at his office, he first instructed his driver to leave the office premises.

Suddenly, officials of the bureau barged in and caught Singh red-handed. He was arrested immediately and booked under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.
