Dy CM inspects work in Patparganj, contractors paid after residents’ thumbs up

Implementing his promise on releasing payments to the contractors only after the satisfaction of residents on quality of their work, Delhi Deputy Chief Manish Sisodia on Saturday stopped payment of several contractors. The minister was on inspection of civic works conducted in his constituency Patparganj from his MLA LAD fund.

“We had already distributed the leaflets containing detailed information about the work, its parameters and cost. The people of the area forced the contractors to meet those parameters and complained against those who did not follow,” said Sisodia. He also uploaded the video of his inspection on his social media accounts which attracted praises for performing contractors and critics for the non-performing ones.

During the inspection of 15 works in wards 217 and 218, Sisodia also asked the officers to get signatures of the residents satisfied for the work. Based on feedback of the residents, some contractors were paid while the payment was withheld for others.

The concerned residents of the area gave their approval on ‘Work Satisfaction Letter’ already prepared by the concerned engineer of the project.  The initiative was conducted in Patparganj on a pilot project basis which will be implemented in entire Delhi through a policy after necessary modifications.
