<g data-gr-id="29" style="color: #3b3b3b; font-size: 11px;">Hitanshi</g> Chauhan from Satyavati College, Garima Rana and Rahul Raj Aryan of Hindu College and Kuldeep Bidhuri of Pannalal Girdharlal Dayanand Anglo-Vedic (PGDAV) College will contest the DUSU polls on behalf of the Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) — AAP’s student wing.

The CYSS, however, is yet to reveal which candidate will run for the top post.

After capturing power in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party is now looking to control the Delhi University’s student body, which is currently dominated by Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

To garner support, CYSS has been trying to connect with students through various measures like helping students during the admission process. Yesterday, they also organised a music concert to canvass student’s support.

Meanwhile, the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) polls entered the second phase with the conclusion of the nomination process today in which a total of 169 applications were found valid.
“While 43 nominations were found valid for the post of President, 40 nominations were validated for the post of Vice-President,” said DS Rawat, DU faculty and Chief Election Commissioner for DUSU polls said.

“The nominations found valid for the posts of Secretary and Joint Secretary were 39 and 45 respectively,” he said adding, overall 12 nominations were rejected during the scrutiny.

The candidates can withdraw their nominations latest by 12 noon on September 4. The polling will take in two phases (morning and evening) on September 11 followed by counting of votes on September 12 after which results will be announced. Students’ wings of various political parties have intensified their campaign ahead of the keenly contested polls which are considered as stepping stones to mainstream politics.
