DU’s flagship FYUP to start from today

Delhi University’s Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) is all set to commence today. The programme is being introduced after a prolonged stand-off between the teachers over its implementation.

Meanwhile, the new session at many colleges such as St Stephen’s, Maharaja Agrasen, Sri Venkateswara, Shri Ram College of Commerce, IP College and Institute of Home Economics began on Tuesday with orientation programmes.

Meanwhile, the DU administration and the Delhi police joined hands to check ragging on the campus and to prevent the new students from getting victimised by the traditional practice of ragging.
Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, deputy dean of students welfare, said ,‘The university has pulled up its socks to ensure peace and harmony while welcoming newcomers.

Anyone found misbehaving with freshers on the campus will be dealt with severely under the anti-ragging guidelines of University Grants Commission. The freshers should inform the proctorial team or the anti-ragging team of the respective colleges if they face any misbehaviour on the campus.’

On the other hand, the Delhi police have also decided to deal strictly with the senior students if they make any attempt to harass juniors, an officer said.
