Duo arrested for killing man

One more person was arrested from Sovabazar area early on Wednesday morning in connection with the murder of Trinamool Congress worker, Sanjay Roy.

Police said the accused Monoranjan Sarkar alias Nipen was one of the close aides of the person who had hatched the plan to kill Roy.

Police have got the details of Nipen after interrogating the four persons who were arrested late on Tuesday night in a similar connection. Based on the information the police raided the area and arrested him. On Tuesday night police had arrested Prabir Mondal, Ranju Ghosh, and Kalidas Adhikari were arrested from Champhati while Tukai Biswas was caught from Ghola.

Kankar Prasad Barui, Deputy Commissioner of Bidhannagar Police, said that six persons went to the spot and killed Roy. A police officer said that all six have been identified. Four of them – Prabir, Ranju, Kalidas and Tukai – were arrested while raids are on to catch the two others. These six persons had gone to the spot and opened fire at Roy and stabbed him to ensure his death. One of the two others, who are still at large, is a local resident while the second person is a resident of Ghola in North 24-Parganas. The miscreants kept travelling at different places in the state after committing the crime. But they had to return to their hideouts somewhere nearby to their residences as they were out of money. Nipen, who was arrested on Wednesday morning, was given the task to keep coordinating with six of them and to pass information about Roy to them. It may be recalled that the police had arrested Dipankar Sarkar a few days after the incident and investigation had revealed that he was the mastermind behind the crime. The plan to kill Roy was fetched in his house and the motive behind killing Roy was rivalry.
