Duo arrested for killing man

A middle aged man and his friend were arrested early on Wednesday morning on charges of killing his friend near Bandhunagar in Siliguri.

Police said the accused Bajrang Agarwal and one of his associates had kidnapped their friend Krishna Saha. They killed him and later buried him in a farmland at Bandhunagar.

Police said the victim was a businessman. But he was not that good in maintaining the accounts. So he used to rely on Bajrang. Police suspect that the accused killed him for money.

On February 13 Bajrang called up the victim’s mobile phone and asked him to meet somewhere outside his house. Saha went out of his house to meet Bajrang but didn’t return.

The victim’s family members were worried as he didn’t return till late night and contacted Bajrang. He told the victim’s family members that Krishna might have been kidnapped by someone. He took the victim’s wife along with him to lodge a complaint with the police.

Police had suspected Bajrang. But instead of arresting him, police kept a watch on him. Police found Bajrang often speaking with another friend Sanjay Agarwal. A few days ago Sanjay left the state and the suspicion of the police rose. Police picked up both Bajrang and Sanjay. In interrogation, the duo confessed the crime and took the police to the place where they had buried the body. Investigation revealed that the victim was strangulated to death when he fell unconscious after taking spiked food that night. The duo was remanded in the custody of the police when produced before the court. Bijoy Sarkar, a relative of the victim, said it seems that Bajrang killed him to get all his money and to take over his business. “We demand maximum punishment of the accused,” he said.
