Dum Dum harassment case: Prime accused arrested

The prime accused of the woman harassment case at North 24 Parganas’ Dum Dum was arrested on Tuesday morning. Raju Saha, the accused was arrested and produced before the court. He was remanded in judicial custody. It should be recalled that some local youth had allegedly harassed a woman and threatened her with dire consequences for protesting against the assault of a local youth. 

The armed men also had also molested her, the woman had written in her complaint to the police. While returning home, she found some local youth were beating up another youth at RN Guha Road of Dum Dum. Unable to stand the sight, the woman tried to intervene in order to rescue him and told the attackers to leave the guy alone. 

The woman rescued the victim youth, identified as Biswajit Sengupta and returned home. But she did not know that the miscreants had followed her till her residence. The woman was attacked and molested and threatened of death if she repeated the act again. By that time, many people had gathered there as the accused decamped from there. 

However, the police lodged a general diary, but later an FIR was lodged. The preliminary investigation divulged, the offenders had old rivalry with Sengupta and were beating him up to exact revenge.
