DU UG registrations complete, SOL admissions may start from next week

The SOL is a constituent centre of DU which admits over 1.4 lakh students every year in its undergraduate programme. Earlier, the admission process for SOL used to begin a few days after the announcement of registration for regular colleges, but since the last two years, the admission process for the centre is being delayed.

The DU administration said the delay has not been from its end. It said that it is awaiting a directive from the University Grants Commission’s Distance Education Board (DEB).  On the other hand, the senior officials at the SOL denied any delay from their side. According to the SOL official, they are still awaiting a green signal from the UGC.

However, sources are confirming that the admission process in SOL may start from the next week.
According to the official, the admission committee has already conducted its meeting and was ready with details of the admission schedule. Once they get the directive, they will start the process, he said.

The registration process which began on June 1, ended on Wednesday. For as many as 57 courses, around, 3, 60,460 registrations were received from across the country in almost 70 odd colleges of DU.

With over 1.5 lakh applicants, National Capital Region (NCR) appeared top in the registration race for the admission in various colleges of Delhi University (DU).  With 50, 246 aspirants, Uttar Pradesh (UP) bagged the second position in the admission battle, followed by Haryana.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, DU conducted the sports trial for the sports quota admission. This year the University has announced that the applicants who have applied under Sports/ECA categories need to follow a centralised process.
