A 19-year-old student of Delhi University's School of Open Learning has reportedly gone missing under mysterious circumstances. A case was registered in east Delhi's Mayur Vihar area on 20 June but police officials are yet to trace the girl. Family members have claimed negligence on the part of investigating officers for the delay in finding the girl.

On the morning of 20 June Shabana left her home in east Delhi’s Trilokpuri area, under the jurisdiction of Mayur Vihar police station, for an examination, the venue for which was a school in Rohini Sector – 3.

According to members of Shabana’s family, she was expected to be back home by 4 pm. When she did not return till late night, however, anxious family members started a search for her. 'We filed a missing report at Rohini South police station the next day,' said a member of the girl’s family. Shabana stays with her parents in Trilokpuri and is an only child.
According to a police official of  Rohini South police station, 'We are probing the matter and investigations are on in the case.'

Initial investigations have found that Shabana didn’t appear for the examination she was scheduled to take. Officials are probing the case from the aspect of both possible foul play or a relationship-related reason.

When approached, members of Shabana’s family said, 'She was in a perfect mood and there was no sign of  discomfort in her even even before the day of the examination.’
The girl’s father added, 'It has been more than a month since Shabana went missing, and police officials seem to be neglecting the case.’
