DU online registration: 31k students enroll on Day I

The admission process for 2016-17 session started at Delhi University (DU) with 30,900 students registering online on the first day.  However, the University received almost 5,000 queries regarding the admission process on the first day. Joint Dean of Student Welfare, DU, said: “The online registration started on Wednesday noon and 30,900 students have registered till 6 pm and 6,000 candidates have already made the payment.”

He added that no technical snags were reported during the online registration process. Last year, the university website had faced technical glitches on the first day of online registrations, thus they have taken extra measures this year to avoid such problems.

“We have put strong, dedicated servers in place and we also have enough backup servers to ensure that the application process is smooth and no inconvenience is caused to the aspirants,” DSW official commented.

The processes of registration will end on June 19. The first cut-off list will be announced on July 27 and it will be a three-day affair from the day of the first cut-off list. The admission process of DU will be concluded on August 16 of this year.

The University will come out with only five cut-off lists this year, unlike previous years 10 cut-off lists. This time, after five cut-offs, if seats are still available then students will have to re-register themselves and the admission will be merit based.
