DU colleges to roll out 10 cut-off lists

New Delhi: As the application process for Delhi University draws to a close on Monday, speculations are rife that the cut-offs will be skyrocketing given the record number of applications the university has received. Some are even saying that the cut-offs will touch 100 per cent mark for some subjects. But admission seekers need not worry about not making it through in the first list as the university has decided that the colleges can come out with up to 10 cut-off lists if the seats are not filled.

The university has introduced the concept of 10 cut-offs as last year with the implementation of Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP), lot of uncertainty prevailed. University officials feel that it will be beneficial for the aspiring students. ‘With more cut-offs, the possibility of seeking admission into the university increases. The cut-offs will decrease at every level. Though, the admission process does take longer time to finish, but in a way, it is good for students,’ said a senior university official requesting anonymity.

While some of the colleges will manage to fill their seats in first or second list, there are possibilities
that students later migrate to other courses like Bachelor in Management Science (BMS) and B.Tech (Humanities & Innovation). Most of the colleges were forced to come out with several
cut-off lists last year to fill vacant seats.

The first cut off list will be released on 24 June, followed by up to nine more lists depending on seat availability till 21 July. Three days have been given for admissions for first five cut-off list and the candidates must complete the enrollment process within this period. For the next five cut-offs there is a two-day window to complete the enrollment.

The university has asked all the colleges to admit ‘everyone’ who meets the required cut-offs. However, to tackle the problem of over-admission unlike last year, it has also directed them to upload data of the student the moment his/her admission is confirmed.
