DTTDC employee shot at, later dies in hospital

An employee with the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) was shot dead in South Delhi’s Mehrauli area, police said on Wednesday. According to police, the accused has been identified as Brij Bhushan Prasad (43).

The case came to light on December 20, when the police received a PCR call informing them that a man was wounded and was bleeding profusely in Budh Bazar, Rajpur Khur, Mehrauli.

“We had deputed a team to inquire into the matter. When the PCR reached the spot, we found a man was lying in a pool of blood. He was bleeding from his right side of the abdomen. So we shifted him to Fortis hospital,” said a senior police official.

The police then identified him to be a resident of Gali number 1, Ramachandra Market, Mehrauli and contacted his family. So far, no CCTV footage could be obtained from the area and the police had been maintaining that he was involved in some scuffle.

However, during the victim’s surgery at the hospital it was found that he had been shot in the abdomen as a bullet was recovered from the wound.

“The victim later succumbed due to his injuries in the morning hours of Wednesday. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the IPC,” the official added.
