DSIIDC pilot project to be ready ahead of time

The re-development and up-grade of the Bawana and Narela industrial areas in the national capital is almost complete and both will be ready before the December deadline.

Delhi industry minister Haroon Yusuf, who recently visited the two areas, described the quality of work as world class. The work was assigned on public-private partnership model in 2011.
Work in Bawana cost Rs 57 crore and that on Narela Rs 130 crore. The work included building
roads, covering drains, assigning parking space and laying water and electricity lines.

‘The concessionaire responsible for redevelopment and up-grade shall maintain the services of these areas for another 13 years after construction,’ DSIIDC spokesperson added.

The Bawana and Narela industrial areas are spread over 1,922 acres and 612 acres respectively. Bawana has 16,312 industrial units and about 3,000 industries are available in Narela.
DSIIDC has also started upgrading infrastructure at Patparganj and Okhla Phase III industrial areas, the statement said.
