Drunk men fire bullets in air, minor girl injured

A group of five to seven men, who were in an inebriated condition, started firing indiscriminately at the locals which left four persons including a 12-year-old girl seriously injured at East Delhiā€™s Krishna Nagar area on Monday night.

According to the police, the incident took place around 11 pm when the group of men who were drinking at a property dealerā€™s shop went to a nearby <g data-gr-id="23">dhaba</g>.

ā€œOne of them went to the <g data-gr-id="27">dhaba</g> and started demanding rotis. This led to a scuffle between the chef and that person which was further aggravated when he started firing indiscriminately in the air. A 12-year-old girl Suman, who was standing nearby, got shot,ā€ said Bhairon Singh Gurjar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East).

ā€œOn hearing <g data-gr-id="24">gun shots</g>, locals of the area started pelting stones at the group of men who somehow managed to flee from the spot,ā€ he added.

According to the police, Suman was taken to a private hospital in Patparganj while Ratan Singh, Gopal Singh and Sunil, the <g data-gr-id="22">dhaba</g> chef, have been admitted to GTB hospital. All are reportedly in a stable condition.

A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code against the accused persons at the Krishna Nagar police station.Ā 

Police have identified the accused persons and efforts are on to arrest them.
