Drunk husband stabs wife to death, arrested

A 58-year-old woman who works in a cloth company in South Delhi’s Anand Niketan was stabbed to death outside the residential complex by her 60-year-old husband over a quarrel on Wednesday. Her husband was apprehended while he was trying to flee with the body in the car.

The couple was having a marital discord and at the time of the incident, the accused was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The incident was reported behind Mount Carmel School near the Tanzanian Embassy.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 11.45 am when one security guard noticed that Manju Moga, who works in that building came down and sat in her husband’s Santro car who came to drop her on Wednesday morning. Manju was earlier a women right’s activists.

The security guard then saw the couple were having an altercation inside the car. Suddenly, Mukesh Monga, her husband who works as a manager in his sister’s music institute in South Delhi pulled out a knife and stabbed her twice while trying to slit her throat. The security guard, identified as Raj Kumar immediately made a PCR call and informed other security staff along with locals.

As per the eye-witnesses, after noticing that locals are trying to nab him he tried to ran away but was intercepted by a PCR van. Later, he was arrested and he confessed to his crime.

The Couple’s daughter — Vartika, who works in an NGO and son — Dhawal, who is into modeling and acting claimed that their father used to torture their mother. “Everyday our father used to threaten her of dire consequences. 

She never used to react only because she wants us to get married and settle down,” they told police.

On Wednesday, Mukesh consumed alcohol at their residence in Hari Nagar where the entire family is 
staying in a three bedroom flat. He then forced her to drop her at office, however, both the children asked her not to go with their father, instead take a cab to office. But she chose to go with Mukesh. The duo claimed it as a planned murder.

A case of murder has been registered and further investigation is underway.
