DRDO lab’s microwave power module released

‘Future wars will be fought remotely and contactless not using conventional weapons but using directed energy weapons instead ,’ said Scientific Adviser to the Defence Minister Dr Vijay Kumar Saraswat.

Addressing scientists and engineers at the Microwave Tube Research and Development Centre (MTRDC), a DRDO laboratory, at Bharat Electronics Ltd’s (BEL)Jalahalli complex in Bengaluru. he emphasised the need to develop high-power microwave (HPM), high power laser (HPL), directed energy weapons (DEW) and Terahertz devices.

Saraswat released a microwave power module (MPM) developed by MTRDC on the occasion. This compact RF power module is capable of giving continuous RF power in a very wide frequency  band and can be used as transmitter for naval defence and civilian radars, communication and electronic warfare systems.
