Dr BC Roy’s birthday observed across state

The birthday of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy was observed in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly on Friday with the speaker garlanding his portrait at a function held in the lobby of the House. State Education minister Partha Chatterjee, Leader of Opposition Abdul Mannan, leader of the Left Front legislature party Sujan Chakraborty and the deputy speaker HA Safwi garlanded Dr Roy’s portrait.

The day was observed as Doctor’s day in the state. Medical Bank organised a health check up camp for senior citizens. Various tests like ENT, Audiometry, bone density, eye and blood sugar level were held on 300 senior citizens. Later, they were issued green card which will enable them to get free treatment for one year through medical bank, its secretary D. Ashis said. As a part of observance of Doctor’s Day, Eastern Railway organised Free Health Check-Up Camps at Howrah, Sealdah & Majerhat stations on Friday under the aegis of Rotary International, Rotary Club of Calcutta Presidency and Fortis Hospital. A massive cleanliness awareness campaign was also organised at Howrah station wherein School Children took part.

R Badri Narayan, Divisional Railway Manager Howrah inaugurated the Health Check-Up Camp at Howrah station in presence of Dr. Sunil Kumar, Chief Medical Director, Eastern Railway and Shyamashree Sen, District Governor of Rotary International District-3291. They also took part in intensive cleanliness drive.

At Sealdah station, S Birua, Additional Divisional Railway Manager and Mukul Sinha, DGN, Rotary International District -3291 were among the dignitaries present & participated in awareness campaign. Free Health Check-Up and Medical advice facility including Blood Pressure monitoring, Blood Sugar test etc were provided to thousands of passengers by the eminent physicians at these camps at Howrah, Sealdah & Majerhat stations.
