Don’t show us fabricated registers, NGT pulls up MCD

“Why don’t the MCD, DDA, Delhi government and NDMC officials sit together and make an action plan?” the NGT asked.

The green tribunal also ordered a principal committee to be formed to tackle the menace.

The tribunal asked concerned officials to come to NGT next Wednesday to take stock of admin steps taken to tackle dengue and chikungunya.

“Ground reality is horrible, don’t show us the fabricated registers,” the tribunal said when the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) told the court that it has inspected 56 lakh houses but could not produce evidence.

“56 lakh houses visited by 700 people is the biggest lie we have heard,” the green court said.
According to an official statement by the civic body, a total of 1,378 cases of dengue and nearly double the number -- 2,625 cases - of chikungunya were reported in the national capital till September 17.

The city has reported 220 new cases of dengue in the last one week while the total number of new chikungunya cases for the same period stands at 628.

For both chikungunya and dengue, the areas under the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has reported the highest cases with 102 and 302 cases respectively. Delhi has witnessed over 30 deaths due to the <g data-gr-id="21">vector <g data-gr-id="20">borne</g></g> diseases.
