Don’t deploy Suraksha Sevaks as domestic orderlies: Rajnath

The Minister of Home Affairs (MHA), while stumbling upon cases of ‘Suraksha Sevak’ working as domestic orderlies in the paramilitary forces, has sent a circular to all unit heads to refrain from such practices immediately.

The circular, which the MHA is claiming as a usual practice of ‘quality assurance’ and ‘preventive measures’ within the units to ensure dignity of jawans, is actually an act of greater initiative in boosting their morale for dealing with the home minister Rajnath Singh’s biggest challenge — Maoists.

Sources said, though it is banned but it was found that a section of officers, especially in the rural areas, are still keeping these orderlies for domestic purpose starting from shoe polishing, buying vegetables to dropping their children to schools or taking them to parks.

‘In some cases we have found that official vehicles were used for personal purpose. This will not be entertained from now. The paramilitary officers should be law abiding and should not indulge in such activities. We have informed all the concerned units and if found anyone indulging in such activities despite our notice, then departmental inquiry will be set up,’ MHA sources said.
