Dog owner booked after pet bites 6-year-old boy

Delhi Police booked a dog owner after her pet animal allegedly bit a six-year-old boy while he was playing in a park near his house at East Delhi’s Geeta Colony area on Sunday evening. According to the police, they have booked the dog owner, Mudita under Section 289 (Negligent conduct with respect to animal) of the Indian Penal Code at the Geeta Colony police station.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 5.30 pm at a park in the Mayur Dhwaj Apartments located in Geeta Colony. Rishi Ghai, a six-year-old boy was playing when a pet canine allegedly bit him on his leg. Crying, the minor boy went home and narrated the incident to his grandmother, Geeta Ghai.

Police said that when Geeta allegedly went to Mudita’s house to complain about the latter’s pet dog, Mudita allegedly started yelling at Geeta and claimed that her dog will roam around freely wherever it wants to. Sources said that Mudita even verbally abused and threatened Geeta to do what ever she wants to.

“That was when Geeta made a PCR call. A case was registered under IPC Section 289 against Mudita. Investigation is on,” said a police officer.

Meanwhile, the boy was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Further probe has been initiated.
