Doctor held for molesting student inside clinic

The incident occurred at Phoolbagan. On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim who is a student of the Calcutta University, police have arrested the accused doctor. The accused will be produced before Sealdah Court on Thursday.

Police said that the victim, Dhiman Ganguly had visited the clinic after she was suffering from some ailments. She told the police that the accused doctor had molested her while treating inside his chamber.

In the pretext of treating her, the accused had touched her inappropriately, following which she protested against the incident. The accused doctor tried to suppress the incident but the victim girl wanted to teach the accused a lesson for his misbehaviour. The victim is pursuing a course at the Calcutta University.

She came out of the chamber and went to the police station for lodging a complaint against the accused doctor. This is not for the first incident where a doctor has been accused of molesting his patient.

Few months ago, a doctor from a private clinic in Park Circus allegedly molested his patient. He was also arrested by the police on the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim. Police interrogated the accused to know if he had been involved in such incidents in the past.

Police have started a probe and they are interrogating the other staff members in this connection.

The police are also trying to know if any other person from the clinic were involved in such incidents.

The accused doctor, however, claimed himself to be innocent during the police interrogation. He claimed that he has been framed. Police are carrying out a detailed probe into the incident.
