DMRC invites tenders for metro link between Noida and G Noida

The DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Noida Authority on Wednesday invited tenders for the proposed metro link between Noida and Greater Noida. The officials, while addressing the media said three tenders of Rs 600 crore each have been floated and “if things go well the construction work is likely to be started within three months”. The metro link is expected to operational by 2017.

The officials also added the length of the route has been reduced to 28 kilometres from the earlier 29.5 kilometres.

Several changes, including Sector 51 metro station and new depot at Sector 71 have been done away with. Instead, new stations will come up between Sector 143 and 149 along the expressway.

GP Singh, finance controller of Noida Authority said the shortening of route will reduce the cost of entire project by Rs 250 crore.

“The bid will be finalised by January 14. Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) will pay Rs 115 Crore to DMRC in the first phase to start the work. All technical, financial and land related issues have been sorted. Hopefully, there will be no delay in execution of the project,” asserted Singh.

The authority has also decided to construct three multilevel parking lots at Sector 71, 145 in Noida and at Alpha-I in Greater Noida. “There are also plans to build malls shopping centres at some of the stations. Names of all the stations will be finalised within a week after consultation with all stakeholders including local welfare bodies”, added Singh.
