DMRC gives safety lessons to contractors

With construction of Phase-III project on full swing, Delhi Metro is imparting lessons on safety and traffic diversions to contractors who are involved in building of Metro corridors.

The workshop on public affairs handling for contractors who have been awarded civil contracts for the third phase of Metro expansion in the National Capital Region was conducted here on Thursday.

In the workshop, the contractors were briefed on various issues related to the public such as safety, traffic diversions and the importance of interaction with the public, among others.

Apart from presentations by many senior officials of DMRC, a play was also staged focusing on the importance of safety at construction sites.

‘DMRC Managing Director Mangu Singh also stressed on the importance of safety and advised the contractors to adhere to all rules and be very vigilant regarding issues related to safety,’ a DMRC spokesman said.

A pictorial handbook on safety, which will be distributed among the workers to further reinforce the importance of safety, was also unveiled by Singh. Three such workshops have already been organised for the contractors in the last one year since the beginning of construction work of Phase III.
