DMK warns party workers for supporting Alagiri

In a statement, DMK general secretary K Anbazhagan accused Alagiri of misleading party workers by holding meetings with supporters across the state.

The warning has come a couple of days after Alagiri held a meeting with his supporters in Madurai. A considerable number of cadres attended the meeting.

‘People who know the history of the party will realize that the leadership will never tolerate any one who disturbs the party’s discipline. We have been receiving reports of suspended south zone organizing secretary Alagiri’s meetings with cadres which are bound to create confusion within the party,’ Anbazhagan said in the statement.

He added that no one in the party should contact Alagiri. ‘Party will take disciplinary action against such party workers,’ Anbazhagan warned.

Alagiri has been maintaining that his father and party chief, M Karunanidhi, has become a prisoner of circumstances and his brother M K Stalin has captured the party and is deciding everything.

Alagiri met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, BJP national leader Rajnath Singh and superstar Rajnikanth last week and issued controversial statements against the party.

It may be recalled that the party (DMK) issued a similar statement back in 2001 when MK Alagiri was sidelined from the party.
