DMK gripped by fear of losing Nov 19 polls: AIADMK

Hitting out at DMK for demanding deployment of officials from other districts in three poll-bound Tamil Nadu assembly constituencies, ruling AIADMK on Tuesday said this betrayed the Opposition party’s “fear” of losing in the elections.

“DMK has sought this because of its fear of losing (polls) ... It has begun gibbering triggered by fear of losing,” AIADMK said in its party mouthpiece ‘Dr Namadhu MGR’.

Polls for Thanjavur and Aravakkurichi and bypoll in Thirupparankundram constituencies will be held on November 19. DMK had on November 13 urged the EC to deploy only officials, including police personnel, who do not belong to Aravakkurichi and Thanjavur constituencies for election related duties there to ensure “free and fair polls”.

In view of the deputation for poll work in their local areas, officials are being given postal ballots to cast their votes, DMK had said and alleged that ruling party would try to “influence,” such local officials.

Such officials from Aravakkurichi and Thanjavur constituencies on poll duty should be recalled immediately to “ensure free and fair polls,” the party had said pointing out that in Thirupparankundram no local official was deputed.

Slamming the DMK, the ruling party said, “when (electoral) loss stares at them, they start hurling blame,” adding “they were not even looked at by the people.” Claiming that AIADMK’s victory “is confirmed” buttressed by “historic” welfare measures, the party condemned the DMK for “casting aspersions” on the EC and government officials.

In Aravakkurichi constituency, V Senthil Balaji (AIADMK) and KC Palanisamy (DMK) and in Thanjavur, Anjugham Boopathy (DMK) and M Rengasamy (AIADMK) are among the candidates. In Thirupparankundram, AIADMK has fielded A K Bose, while P Saravanan is the DMK nominee.
