DLF, HUDA to invest in 16-lane road in Gurgaon

Country's largest realty firm DLF and Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) have joined hands to construct a 16-lane road covering 8.3 km in Gurgaon at an investment of up to Rs 600 crore to ease heavy traffic flow in the city.

DLF, instrumental in development of major part of Gurgaon, has signed an agreement with HUDA for upgradation of road from NH-8 toll plaza to Sector 55-56, sources said.

The signal-free road with eight underpasses and a flyover would provide a big relief to the commuters, as commuting time from Gurgaon toll plaza to reach the Golf Course Road would be reduced from 30 minutes to 3 minutes.

HUDA and DLF would together invest about Rs 400-600 crore on the project, sources said, adding that the bidding process is undergoing and construction firms like L&T, Punj Lloyd and Lanco have shown interest.

When contacted, DLF Executive Director Rajeev Talwar confirmed the development and said, 'This will be a signal free movement from the toll gate to sector 55-56.'

'The objective is to provide optimal solution for the traffic movements in the area based on present and projected traffic demand in future,' he added.

Already, DLF is developing a private metro rail project in Gurgaon. Recently, the company said it will start fire brigade beginning with Gurgaon and Chennai. DLF has many completed as well as ongoing housing and commercial complexes in the city.
