DLF club employee found dead in Gurgaon

A 32-year-old man, working at the DLF city club, was found dead near Sahara mall in Gurgaon on the wee hours of December 9 (Tuesday), police said on Friday.  His family alleged he was murdered, however, police refrained from drawing any conclusions unless the post-mortem report was out. The deceased, identified as Venkata Prasad Rao, worked as an attendant at the DLF city club in
Gurgaon. On December 8 night, a party was organised at the club and he worked till 11 pm that day.

He lived at Aya Nagar area near Chhattarpur, but the cab driver informed police that Venkatesh got down near Sinkardarpur metro station in Gurgaon.

When his friends couldn’t reach him over phone for more than 24 hours, they approached the police on December 10 evening. “Police then showed us a photograph of a body discovered near Sahara Mall on the wee hours of the previous day (December 9). We immediately identified the body,” said Manoj, friend and neighbour of the deceased. According to police, Venkata was alive when he was found by the beat constables. “He had a severe injury on his head. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, which referred him to another hospital in Rohtak. We took him to Rohtak, where he later succumbed to his head injury,” said the official investigating the case.

Venkata’s wallet and mobile phone were missing from his pocket as well, the officer informed. “It doesn’t necessarily imply murder and it is quite possible that somebody took it away when he was seen lying injured. However, we are investigating the case from all possible angles,” he said.
