DJB extends tax rebate programme

With election round the corner, Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit does not want to miss any chance to woo voters. The Delhi Jal Board on Wednesday once again extended the 30 per cent rebate scheme on actual arrears up to 1 January, 2014, for all domestic consumers provided the outstanding arrears are paid by this date.
This scheme was earlier due to close on 31 July this year.

Dikshit had announced on 22 March a decision to waive off late payment charges on water bills. Those who paid before 31 July will be given an additional 30 per cent rebate on arrears.
DJB had announced in April, 2013, the waiver of late payment surcharge (LPSC) on accumulated arrears for all domestic consumers, if such arrears were paid by 31 March, 2014. Further, an additional rebate of 30 per cent on actual arrears was announced, if the arrears were paid by 31 July, 2013.
