Disney to go ahead with Cruella de Vil movie

Following the success of Maleficent and Cinderella, Disney is accelerating the progress of live-action project Cruella.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is now putting its full attention to Cruella, a film which centers on Cruella de Vil, a character from 101 Dalmatians.

Fifty Shades of Grey screenwriter Kelly Marvel has been tapped to pen the script with the help of Togetherness co-creator Steve Zissis. Cruella first appeared in Dodie Smith’s 1956 novel “The Hundred and One Dalmatians”, which in 1961 was adapted into an animated movie. Glenn Close played Cruella in the live-action movie, 101 Dalmatians (1996), and the sequel, 102 Dalmatians (2000).
