Dilip Pandey plaint: Delhi Police to hear both versions

“While Pandey has demanded registration of case under charges of attempt to murder against the driver of the police van, the driver has also alleged that he was beaten up by AAP workers led by Pandey, who was present on the spot,” said a senior official.

He further added that some AAP workers have also claimed that the driver was in an inebriated state. The medical report regarding that is yet to arrive. According to a police source, a meeting of senior police officials was held on Wednesday evening in connection to this case, and the cops were mulling over registration of FIRs.

Meanwhile, as many as 20 AAP workers, who had protested at the Anand Parvat police station on Tuesday, were arrested by the police for ‘rioting’ and preventing public servants from doing their duty which led to six police officials being injured, a senior official said on Wednesday.

They were also presented before a city court, which sent them to judicial custody. A hearing of the matter is scheduled on Thursday.

Delhi Police Chief B S Bassi on Wednesday rubbished allegations that his men tried to kill AAP leader Dilip Pandey, who claimed that a police van tried to run him over on Tuesday. “For the first time in my career, I have come across such an allegation,” Bassi told the media. But he quickly added: “We’ll look into the complaint. The AAP should not be afraid or get paranoid.”

On Tuesday night, the protesters were demanding resignation of the concerned ACP and SHO for alleged inaction and negligence in dealing with the murder case of the 19-year-old girl at Central Delhi’s Anand Parvat.

Meanwhile, another group of protesters had assembled outside the Rajinder Nagar police station, where a police van allegedly tried to crush Dilip Pandey, while he was briefing the media.
